100 Masters: Only in Canada is well on its way to becoming the most popular exhibition in the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s 100-year history. In order to accommodate the crowds eager to see some of the finest art in the world, the WAG is holding it over until Monday, September 2.
The Gallery’s opening hours have also been extended:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday — 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Thursday, Friday, Saturday — 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Sunday — 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Monday, September 2, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
100 Masters: Only in Canada brings together some of the world’s greatest artists under one roof—Rembrandt, Gainsborough, van Gogh, Renoir, Monet, Picasso, Warhol, to name just a few. Thirty Canadian and American galleries have lent their finest masterpieces to this exhibition celebrating the WAG’s Centennial as Canada’s oldest civic art gallery. From 1503 to 2009 the exhibition traces the development of art over the past 500 years. Admission to the show includes a free audio tour narrated by Jeff Douglas, host of CBC’s As It Happens and a souvenir booklet.
