An Auditory Feast
Summer is the time to pump up the volume. Festivals and fairs across the province feature like entertainment, including some of our favorites the TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival (on now until June 22), Dauphin Countryfest (June 27-30) and the Winnipeg Folk Festival (July 10-14). Here are a couple more ideas to get your musical fix.
While the Moonlight Special train no longer runs to Winnipeg Beach, you can relive the energy of the boardwalk in the early 1900s with the live entertainment on the outdoor bandstand. With a backdrop of Lake Winnipeg, the bandstand features a different live act every weekend starting June 30 until Labour Day. On Canada Day, July 1, enjoy an evening with Elvis as tribute artists Adam T. Elvis and Corny Rempel are followed by a huge fireworks display.
Every Friday and Saturday from June 28-August 31 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. head to Corydon Avenue for music under the stars and Dancing on the Avenue. Some of Winnipeg’s best bands will be belting out the tunes at the corners of Corydon and Arbuthnot Street North and Corydon and Lilac Street South, in this concert series hosted by the Corydon Avenue BIZ. Plus, Laughter Without Borders will be at every performance with face painters, magicians, balloon makers and your favorite clowns.
