Summer Fun at The Forks National Historic Site!
Parks Canada has summer fun for families covered at The Forks National Historic Site!
This month, Parks Canada and Variety, the Children’s Charity of Manitoba are celebrating the first anniversary of the opening of the Variety Heritage Adventure Park. The Variety Heritage Adventure Park is a world-class children’s park featuring unique play structures designed to represent the historic stories of The Forks National Historic Site and to be accessible to children of all abilities.
Kids can “board” a train and steamboat, climb the walls of a fur trade-era fort, play instruments to experience the “joie de vivre” of St. Boniface, and learn about the history and culture of First Nations and Métis people. Starting June 17, the adventure park’s splash pad will begin running to help kids keep cool. And the best part its, entry to the park is totally FREE!
On July 20, Parks Canada and Mountain Equipment Co-op will hold a very special one-day “Learn-to-Camp” workshop at The Forks National Historic Site. The day-long event will feature demonstrations of how to set-up a campsite, hiking, campfire cooking, sing-alongs, crafts and much more! Whether you’re a camping veteran or a beginner, “Learn-to-Camp” promises to be fun for the whole family!
