Make Some New Friends

Make some fossilized friends at Morden’s Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre. Sign up the kids up for a spring break camp (March 26-28) where they’ll learn about biodiversity and the tricks of fossil hunting. Make sure to say hello to Bruce, a 43-foot long Mosasaur fossil. This giant reptile swam in the deep seawater that covered Manitoba 80 million years ago.
He may be cuddlier than Bruce, but still there are no hugs allowed when you pay a visit to Hudson the polar bear. The newest resident at Assiniboine Park Zoo made his debut on Valentine’s Day, which is no coincidence because Manitobans have quickly fallen in love. While at the Zoo, check out the new Polar Playground. The kids can search out the hidden messages in the ice cave, conduct the northern lights, play the wall-sized icicle xylophone and take a slide through a polar bear’s mouth. Stay for lunch at the Tundra Grill then visit the jungle and the inhabitants of Toucan Ridge.
