Horses and Snowboards and Sled Dogs, Oh My!

Head to Brandon to raise your “ag” awareness. The family-friendly Royal Manitoba Winter Fair, March 25-30 at the Keystone Centre, is designed to entertain and educate the public about agriculture in fun and interactive ways. Get your hands dirty in the Ag-tivity Zone, scope the competition-worthy cows in Cattle Country, or pick up new tricks at the sheep shearing and Super Dogs demonstrations. Learn about sustainable farming strategies, check out a car powered by grain seeds and make some new friends at the Royal Petting Zoo. Plus don’t miss the Fair’s world-class equine events, where you can marvel at the power and agility of the heavy horses, the precision and grace of the show jumpers or the speed and athleticism of the barrel racers.
Strap on skis or a snowboard for a fun snow-filled adventure at Asessippi Ski Area & Resort. Take advantage of the 25 runs, two terrain parks and snow tubing park before the hill closes for the season. Stay for the Slush Cup on the last day, March 31, and make a splash into spring.
Go on an exciting northern getaway this spring break with an incredible adventure at the Tundra Inn in Churchill. Enjoy dog sledding, ski-dooing, snowshoeing and northern lights. The northern lights are particularly active at this time of year, so you might have to let the kids stay up past bedtime to catch the multicoloured light show.
