Rooftop igloos take centre stage at the WAG

Published: 02/10/2014

The Winnipeg Art Gallery has partnered with the Manitoba Urban Inuit Association (MUIA) to create a traditional Inuit encampment, complete with igloos and two small ice shelters, on the rooftop of the WAG to celebrate the Canadian North. The display opened on February 2 and is open to the public during regular gallery hours. Authentic Inuit cultural items such as traditional tools and weapons enhance this interactive experience.

Bring the whole family to discover and explore the traditions and art practices of artists from Winnipeg to the Arctic. Enjoy inspiring art workshops and games, immerse yourself in a fascinating music video set against the Canadian Rockies, and don’t forget your parka to explore the rooftop igloo! It’s fun for the whole family!
