Festival Du Voyageur: Coming Soon to a Snowbank Near You!

Published: 01/16/2011

There's little doubt that the memory of your 300 new best friends shouting Hey Ho inside a very warm tent on a frosty February night will soon fade from your mind. It's also unlikely that you'll dismiss that nagging craving for pea soup, bannock and an icy glass of Fort Gibraltar Lager.

"Hey Ho, Let's Go"

Practice that. You're going to be yelling it a lot come Feb. 15 when Canada's Largest Kitchen Party opens its doors. C'mon in. Unzip your parka. Grab a cool one and sing along. Time to kick back at Festival du Voyageur.

But just in case you need a little something more to remember your time at the Festival du Voyageur (FDV), here's this year's souvenir offerings.

Playin' the Spoons, $8

Grab yourself a set of these, find a cozy spot inside one of the music-filled trading posts and make a heartfelt attempt to play along. Find your rhythm here before you attempt a solo on stage with your cuillères de bois, otherwise known as wooden percussion spoons.

Ice Shooter Cups, $20

If you want to replicate that frosty beverage vibe that you found at the outdoor Snow Sports Bar, you'll need a set of these. Fill with water, juice or a daiquiri mix, freeze, pop them out, and add the spirit or your choice for a cool cocktail. Try freezing cold coffee and filling with Irish cream liqueur.

Get Your Sash On  (Ceinture Flechee) $20

During FDV, the fashion police will look kindly upon any creative way you choose to demonstrate your love for the iconic sash. Perhaps a flirty toss around the neck and one flip over the shoulder? Or maybe you like it resting low on the hips with the tails swishing around your knees?

Chug, Chug From Your Mug, $14

This ceramic mug with a pliable silicone lid is equally effective for both hot and cold beverages. Plus it's completely stylish. Fill it to the brim with caribou to keep your toes warm and your spirits high.

Get Tuqued , $30

Call it funky, hip or goofy, this piece of headwear will prevent all that hot air from floating off the top of your head. The chunky knit gives it a distinctly homemade look. Plus it red, and that means it will work with your unique FDV ensemble. You just can't go wrong when you wear a pompom.

I'm a Lumberjack (Flannel Checkered Shirt) $50

Yes this shirt is completely practical when it comes to staying warm on February nights. But plaid is also one of today's hottest style trends. Functionality and fashion meet at FDV. Who knew?

Get ‘em all the the souvenir tent at Festival du Voyageur. The fun runs February 15 to 24 in 2013.
