An international organization has presented a 2014 Platinum Hermes Creative Award to the new website launched by Travel Manitoba in January.
The Hermes awards are presented annually by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP) to recognize outstanding work in traditional and emerging media in terms of quality, creativity and resourcefulness. Travel Manitoba’s website was one of about 5,500 entries from several countries.
“The new site is designed to provide powerful follow-through for the entire marketing campaign,” said Doug Evans, eMarketing Manager at Travel Manitoba. “Besides looking great, the site offers big advantages for customer relationship management (CRM) and social media integration.”
For example, if someone clicks on an event listing, the website has the ability to display information about related industry services, such as nearby accommodations, restaurants and attractions. Widgets can be placed anywhere on the site to integrate content with Facebook, Twitter and other platforms.
Another new feature is the dynamic “trip builder” app, which allows visitors to create their own customized itinerary of events and attractions as they move through the site. The app can be viewed by clicking on the “My Trip Planner” link in the upper right hand corner of travelmanitoba.com.
“It’s a very effective tool,” Doug said. “Whenever you spot something of interest on the site, you can just click on the ‘Add to Itinerary’ button to capture the information in your personal trip plan. You can also click and drag items from the ‘itinerary interests’ column on the left hand side of the page.”
Once a personal itinerary has been saved, it can be printed, emailed and accessed any time on a mobile device.
The creator of the new website is Simpleview Inc., an international leader in web development for direct marketing organizations and convention and visitor bureaus.
