
The Tourism Industry Association of Canada along with representative associations from the airlines, airports, hotels - forming the National Travel and Tourism Coalition - recently came together to release the White Paper, "The Future of Travel and Tourism in Canada".
In 2007, the Canadian Tourism Commission, in conjunction with a partnership group that included Ontario, British Columbia, Manitoba, the Atlantic and the North, engaged Harris/Decima to conduct the Global Tourism Watch (GTW) tracking research. The program was implemented in eight global markets - the US, Mexico, the UK, France, Germany, Australia, Japan, and South Korea.
This publication presents estimates of government revenues attributable to tourism for the years 2000 to 2007. Estimates of the revenue attributable to tourism spending by non-residents (i.e. tourism exports) and by residents (i.e. tourism domestic demand) are also included for the first time. The main data sources are the Canadian Tourism Satellite Account, National Tourism Indicators, the Income and Expenditure Accounts, the Input-Output tables and T-4 tax remittance files.

A quarterly outlook of advance bookings and market intelligence is derived from the Destination Supplier/Receptive Agent Business Outlook Survey. This survey was developed by the Canadian Tourism Research Institute, a division of The Conference Board of Canada, on behalf of the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC).
