The outdoor Air Park consists of 14 aircraft, including the only Challenger on exhibit in Canada. The Garden of Memories is a tribute to the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. The museum in the Billy Bishop building, 1 Canadian Air Division Headquarters, showcases rare artifacts, including the Battle of Britain lace tapestry. The Archibald Historical Museum includes a furnished log house (1878) where Nellie McClung boarded as a teacher. A large frame house owned by Nellie McClung is furnished with pieces from the early 1900s. Her first two books were written and her first child born here. The former La Rivière CPR Station, with its distinctive mansard roof design, is the only existing example in Manitoba. A three-storey barn has an old country store, household effects, tools, buggies. The park is settled at the south end of Lake of the Prairies, a man-made lake flanked by the magnificent valley walls of the Assiniboine and Shell rivers. The lake yields northern pike, perch, and is one of the best walleye lakes in the province. Facilities include camping, yurts, hiking, boat rentals, fishing, self-guiding trails, beach, washrooms accessible to the disabled and a snack bar. Asessippi Townsite

The Asessippi Townsite was established in 1882 by the Shell River Colonization Company. When the railway failed to pass through the town, the inhabitants resettled in Roblin. Today, all that remains are the ruins of abandoned buildings. A commemorative plaque recalls the history of the town.

Assiniboia Downs is open every day except Christmas Day!

The track can be enjoyed by everyone. The Downs offers Family Fun Days during afternoon race cards where children of all ages can enjoy a petting farm, and youngsters can ride a pony or bounce in the inflatable gyms all for FREE.

Comprised of over 700 acres of urban oak and aspen forest, it is one of the largest urban nature parks of its kind in Canada. This multi-use park is home to a variety of species of flora and fauna. Interpretive signage identifies the 1 km paved Sagimay Trail leading to Eve Werier Pond, boardwalk and the 6 km woodchipped trail system. Assiniboine Park comprises 153.26 ha (403.43 ac) on the Assiniboine River. The park’s highlight attraction is the Assiniboine Park Zoo, as well as the new Qualico Family Centre, expanded duck pond, Winnie-the-bear statue, walking and biking paths, a conservatory, the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden and a Tudor-style pavilion that is home to the Terrace 55 Restaurant and Pavilion Gallery Museum. The Lyric Theatre, the Mayors Grove, Citizens Hall of Fame, a French formal garden and English Garden are among the many pleasing sites. Facilities for tobogganing, cross-country skiing and ice-skating are available in the winter. Winnipeg’s only cricket tournaments are played in the park.
