2012 Sno-pass Information for Visitors

Out of Province Visitors
It is mandatory for out of province visitors (people who are not residents of Manitoba) to purchase a Sno-pass if they wish to ride on any Manitoba snowmobile trails throughout the winter season. Out of province visitors have the option of either purchasing the seven day Sno-pass or the annual Sno-pass depending on the intended use. The annual Sno-pass for out of province visitors is valid from December 1st – April 30th. Upon purchasing the Sno-pass, visitors must show proof of ownership for the snowmobile and the valid registration of the snowmobile from another jurisdiction. On the registration there must also be an indication of a minimum of $200, 000 third-party liability coverage.

For more information please visit Manitoba Public Insurance.

What is a Sno-pass?
By law, a rider must show and have a valid Sno-pass to ride on trails designated by Snowman Inc. A Sno-pass allows snowmobilers to ride on these trails that are groomed and maintained by Snoman Inc. These Sno-passes can be purchased through Manitoba Public insurance or the Snowman Inc. The funds are used to maintain the different trails that are operated by Snoman Inc, and used to financially support the many different clubs across Manitoba. Sno-passes should be purchased per snowmobile. That is, the Sno-pass system does not register the owner to travel on the Snoman Inc. Trails, but it allows the snowmobile to travel on the trail designated by the Snoman Inc. The fine for not having or not displaying valid Sno-pass and sticker (which is to be placed on the off road vehicle plate of the snowmobile) is over $400.

For more information please visit Manitoba Public Insurance.

Who is Snoman?
Snowmobilers of Manitoba or Snoman Inc, is a non profit organization that maintains designated snowmobile trails that are found throughout Manitoba. This organization also represents over 50 different snowmobile clubs throughout the province of Manitoba. The Sno-pass program was created in 1994 to stabilize a funding base for the grooming and maintaining of trails throughout the province, as well as the different clubs and organizations that rely on these trials to fulfill their winter tours.

If you require more information on the Sno-pass program, or the Snoman Organization please visit their website or visit the history of the organization.
