The world�s longest hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling trail, at over 18,000 km, spans all provinces and territories. On the east side of the Red River is St. Peter Dynevor Anglican Church (PHS). Built in 1852-54, it was the only Aboriginal Anglican parish in the Red River Settlement. Chief Peguis, friend and benefactor to the Selkirk Settlers and defender of Native land rights, is buried in the churchyard. Location: 5 km/3 mi. north of East Selkirk on PR 508, then follow signs west.

Gretna A cairn commemorates the Mennonite pioneers, who in 1875 crossed the Red River at Emerson and followed the Post Road westward into the treeless plains shunned by earlier immigrants. The peace bell, a 115-year-old school bell, was installed in a peace tower in Centennial Park in 1967. Location: north of Gretna on PTH 30.
