Assiniboine Park Zoo

With over 200 species in its collection, the Assiniboine Park Zoo features an astounding menagerie of animals from all corners of the globe. With indoor and outdoor exhibits, the Zoo specializes in hardy, cold-climate species from northern latitudes and mountain ranges, such as caribou, lynx, muskox, and bison and Hudson, the Polar Bear. A range of exotic animals is also featured in the ever-changing animal collection such as meerkats, geckos, fruit bats, camels, piranhas, flamingos, snow leopards, tigers and more!

Qualico Family Centre & the Park Café

The Qualico Family Centre is another great gathering place for Park visitors to recharge and warm up! The Centre is home to the Park Café, a family-friendly restaurant that offers interesting and affordable breakfast and lunch menus. The Park Café is open daily from 8 am to 4 pm. The centre is also capable of hosting a variety of events, from Park programs for children, to corporate retreats, weddings, receptions, and other celebrations.

Pavilion Gallery Museum

The Pavilion Gallery Museum features a beautiful array of artwork year-round with an exciting permanent and family-friendly feature that opened in spring 2012 - The Pooh Gallery. Enjoy a fun and vibrant space, filled with heartwarming memorabilia and a dedicated story time dean, highlighting Winnipeg’s role in the history of the loveable bear. The gallery also houses the largest collections of work by renowned Manitoba artists: Walter J. Phillips, Clarence Tillenius, and Ivan Eyre. Displays are rotated seasonally and tours are available.

Leo Mol Sculpture Garden

Combining artistic beauty with snow-kissed nature, the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden offers a quiet retreat to view and enjoy the magnificent works of master sculptor, Dr. Leo Mol. A short walk from the Pavilion, the garden was created as a result of Dr. Mol’s generous gift of many of his wonderful bronze pieces and works of art to the community in which he lived.

Conservatory

A verdant, green paradise, featuring more that 8,000 flowers, plants and trees, the Conservatory offers an array of floral and tropical displays. With perfect weather guaranteed, it’s the ideal place to celebrate a special occasion or visit any time of year.

The Lyric Theatre

The Lyric Theatre will welcome you with its traditional summer entertainment. From spring to fall, the large outdoor stage offers free events and entertainment for every taste and age including Movies in the Park and the Summer Music Series.

Nature Playground

As the snow melts and the flowers bloom, the Nature Playground will appeal to children of all ages who want to exercise their body and imagination! Located just west of the Assiniboine Park Pavilion and south of the Duck Pond, the Playground features uniquely designed play areas and structures inspired by the Park’s natural beauty. Explore the sand and water play area, slithering slides, a sky-high crow’s nest, willow tree tunnels, basket swings, a giant robin’s nest, rubber mountains, net bridges, and a Children’s Garden inspired by the classic childhood board game of Snakes and Ladders.

Imagine a Place 

The Imagine a Place Capital Campaign is one of the largest fundraising campaigns in Manitoba’s history and is in the process of revitalizing the Park & Zoo. It is more than a simple facelift; the Park is in the midst of a massive redevelopment with projects that are big, bold, and world class! Read below to learn more about what's to come!

Journey to Churchill – Opening in 2014

Journey to Churchill will be a world-class, exhibit at the Assiniboine Park Zoo that will give visitors the opportunity to get up close and personal with Manitoba’s most famous animals. Scheduled to open in 2014, the signature exhibit includes the now open International Polar Bear Conservation Centre dedicated to research, conservation and education. Once complete, Journey to Churchill will feature a variety of spectacular elements geared to educate and inspire, including:   

• the International Polar Bear Conservation Centre – NOW OPEN!
• Tundra Grill restaurant, Polar Playground and gift shop - NOW OPEN!
• the Aurora Borealis 360-degree theatre
• an underwater viewing area

Park Conservatory

A newly constructed Conservatory will be a signature piece of architecture for the city. It will be situated in the south east corner of the Park, near the Formal Gardens. It will house a world of plants that tell the story of how living ecosystems sustain our health and well-being and event space designed to accommodate up to 400 people. This new facility will be home to a permanent indoor butterfly garden and the new Babs Asper Floral Garden.
